The Bureau of Local Employment joined the Quezon City LGU in its celebration of the 18th Women with Disabilities Day on 21 March 2022. The Bureau was invited as a guest during the forum on the employment situation of Women with Disabilities with the theme “Kababaihang may Kapansanan sa New Normal: Kapantay, Kaisa at Kasama sa Inklusibong Kaunlaran”. The forum was organized by the QC Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) and was attended by PWD organizations and QC residents.

Ms. Stephanie Jaurigue, PWD focal person of the BLE, presented the relevant laws concerning PWD employment and the various programs of the Department that may be availed by PWDs, including the JobStart Philippines, Government Internship Program (GIP), and the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP). Attendees were also enjoined to sign up at the PhilJobNet and join the nationwide job fairs conducted by the DOLE Regional Offices and Public Employment Service Offices (PESOs) to aid them in their search for employment.

An open forum was conducted after the presentation, and concerns and clarifications on how to avail of the various programs of the Department were addressed by Ms. Jaurigue. Participants expressed their strong interest to avail of the programs presented and are very enthusiastic to make use of the Bureau’s job search platforms for employment. Before the program ended, Ms. Jaurigue reiterated the commitment of the Department to assist PWDs in their search for gainful employment and livelihood.
